We have observed that the Bible speaks of two resurrections. In Book 8 – The first resurrection and coming kingdom, we looked at the first resurrection in detail. Let us now consider the second resurrection.
Dan 12:2 “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.”
John 5:29 “… And will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”
Acts 24:15 “… Having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.”
Rev 20:5 “The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed …”
From these Scriptures we deduct that the second resurrection is not in joy and glory as the first. Rather it is a resurrection with the purpose of bringing those who are resurrected to judgement.
